Let’s talk about SPF
It’s usually the most frequently missed product as part of people’s skincare routine, but a very important one! Here at Cosmiko we encourage all our clients, old and new to offer an SPF product as part of their product range.
SPF (Sun Protection Factor) is essential for maintaining skin health by forming a protective barrier against harmful Ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Daily use, even on cloudy and rainy days in winter, it is critical for skin health and you should be using it in your 20’s to reduce skin ageing later in life!
The global SPF skincare market is currently worth around $14 billion USD and is experiencing strong growth, projected to reach up to $25 billion USD by 2035.

What is the difference between UVA and UVB?
Ultraviolet A (UVA) has a longer wavelength and is associated with skin ageing. UVA is responsible for the destruction of health collagen and elastin fibres. It penetrates the dermis of the skin 40 times deeper than UVB and causes premature ageing. Research has shown that by protecting your skin from low grade UVA from a young age can help reduce the appearance of dark spots, wrinkles and fine lines later in life. Our Products containing only UVA were developed to help protect the skin from ageing and not as a sunscreen replacement.
Ultraviolet B (UVB) has a shorter wavelength and is associated with skin burning. UVB is responsible for skin reddening and sunburn. It penetrates the epidermis of the skin and plays a key role in the development of skin cancers. Products only containing both UVA and UVB can be used as a sunscreen replacement product.
At Cosmiko we offer a range of UVA / UVB SPF products for you to choose from, using the highest quality ingredients to ensure you stay protected throughout the day.
