Anti-Pollution Products
Recent studies show that pollution continues to rise every day, people in Asia have had this worry for years and we often follow their lead in cosmetic technologies. There is a concerning rise in pollution especially in cities as it is often high enough to pose a threat to our youthful complexions!
What’s the main culprit…a particle in the air that is caused by pollution, it is extremely small; it enters the skins pores and embeds down into the epidermis. It causes darker spots (hyper-pigmentation), speeds up cellular ageing and can cause fine lines and wrinkles.
One of the best ways to combat these pesky pollutants is to cleanse as soon as you get home, removing them quicker will stop damage sooner. Leaving your beauty routine until bedtime can allow them to damage the skin even further, take action by washing and cleansing as soon as you can.
As pollution is on the rise everywhere (but especially in cities) the demand for help increases. Anti-pollution skin products need to be full of antioxidants to fight the particles. Ideally day products should form a barrier or protective layer that’s stops the particles clinging to the skin and entering it where it does the damage. This means instead of entering the skin it sits on the barrier layer of the product then when you wash or cleanse your face later in the day/evening the pollutants are washed away.
Anti-pollution products can come in many forms:
- Moisturisers/creams
- Face masks
- Mists
- Cleansers
- Gels
Good antioxidants are green tea, sea buckthorn, seaweed extract, ferulic acid and edelweiss, SPF is a must in anti-pollution products.
